ABOUT US
OUR MISSION
CWCT is dedicated to growth and educational opportunities for our area youth through theatre arts.
We provide a positive environment where they learn theatre skills, empathy, and teamwork in the process of working on and performing in plays, musicals, and other related activities.
Our motto: No Stage is Too Big
"Theatre is the art form of the present: it exists only in the present, and then it's gone." -Simon McBurney
A BRIEF HISTORY
Central Wisconsin Children’s Theatre was formed in 1979 by the merger of two existing organizations – Wausau Children’s Theatre and The Merry Pipers. Since that time, CWCT is the only public theatre in our area offering theatre consistently for and by children.
Over the years, hundreds of shows have been produced by thousands of children in Wausau and the surrounding communities of
Central Wisconsin.
OUR PROGRAM
CWCT does 4-5 main stage shows (plays and musicals) each season (July-June). We hold drama camps during the summer and have other opportunities for area youth to be involved in programming throughout the year.
Our shows generally rehearse for 6-8 weeks prior to performances with auditions for the next show coming near the end or just after the previous show is concluded.
We are privileged to perform at a variety of venues around the area, such as the UWSP at Wausau's Center for Civic Engagement, The historic Grand Theater, the Creske Community Center in Mosinee, and various local school auditoriums.
