Turning Children's Literature into Theatre
Camp for ages 6-10 (June 26-30, 1-3pm) - $100
Final performance for parents on Friday
Theatre, as any director will tell you, is all about telling stories. Newsies tells the story of the newspaper strike in 1899, Beauty and the Beast tells the story of the beloved Fairy Tale. So, what better place to look for children’s plays than in children’s literature? This week we will be looking at popular children’s books and turning them into short plays, which the kids will then perform. We will be very hands-on with our activities; the students will be creating the props and costumes used in each of our plays. This camp will also include some crafty activities and fun theatre games. Reading ability is not required, just a sense of fun and a little creativity!
