Central Wisconsin Children’s Theatre (CWCT) is an organization dedicated to promoting theatre, performance and educational opportunities for the benefit of young people.

CWCT does this by providing a positive environment where all young people can grow and develop their self-esteem and self-confidence through the art of quality theatre.

"Theatre is the art form of the present: it exists only in the present, and then it's gone." -Simon McBurney

Central Wisconsin Children’s Theatre was formed in 1979 by the merger of two existing organizations – Wausau Children’s Theatre and The Merry Pipers. Since that time, CWCT is the only theatre organization in the area offering theatre consistently for and by children.

Over the years, hundreds of shows have been produced by thousands of children in Wausau and the surrounding communities of

Central Wisconsin.

CWCT aims to put on 4 – 6 main stage shows each season (July-June). We hold drama camps for different age groups during the summer.

Each show has a rehearsal period of 6-8 weeks prior to our performance dates.

We are privileged and believe it is beneficial to perform in various venues around the area, such as the UWSP at Wausau Center for Civic Engagement, The historic Grand Theater, the Creske Community Center in Mosinee, and various school auditoriums.
