Artist Showcase

Zoey Yang

Zoey, I've known you for so long, how old are you now?
I am 15 years old now and attend DC Everest High School.

No way, really? Tell me, what was the first show you did with CWCT?

My first show was Flat Stanley (2012 cast). One thing I remember from that show was how nice the older kids were to me and how much fun I had. Probably part of why I've been involved in so many - I think 22 so far.

Again - wow. With so many shows, do you have any special moments? First, I've loved all of my shows, but two of my favorites are definitely "Willy Wonka JR." (Violet) and "Children of Eden". They were both so much fun to do.

As for special moments, playing Violet Beauregard in Willy Wonka JR. because I got to blow up (and who doesn't like that). I also got to be bald as Sid in "Chitty, Chitty Bang, Bang JR".

Those sound like a blast. Do you have anything coming up soon? I do. I'm in Wausau Community Theatre's (WCT) fall show "Descendants (PURCHASE TICKETS HERE)". I had recently been a nun when they last did "Sound of Music".

I was also part of DCE performing Arts "James and the Giant Peach".

Could we see you auditioning for CWCT's JATGP this year? It just might be - so many opportunities in our area.

So true. Would you say that you're a Theatre Kid - and if so, what does that mean to you? Yes, in my opinion I feel like I am a theater kid. I like theater and I have a strong passion for it. I think that is all that you need.

Growing up, CWCT was like my second home. I loved going to rehearsals and do shows. I made so many strong friendships and bonds - not to mention so many great theater memories.

I think you already answered my next question - why would you tell someone to get involved with CWCT?  I can't think of a reason not to get involved. Without my connection to CWCT, I don’t think I would have thrived as much as I have.

I also doubt I would love theater nearly as much as I do.

Final question - do you have a theater related joke or meme for me? Of course.

What did the the theatre critic's ghost say? ... Booo!

Thank you Zoey for taking the time to do this interview. We look forward to seeing you on stage soon and back to CWCT!
